I can't believe that Atticus, my own father was hiding something from Scout and I. He didn't even tell us that he was the best shooter in Maycomb. When he shot that dog and killed him on the first shot and didn't miss i was so shocked, but he was a little to the right of where he wanted to shoot the dog because of the Finch tribal defect. Us Finch's left eyes aren't as good as our right. I really thought that Atticus was just a lazy old man who did nuttin' but i sure was wrong, I just wish I'da found out sooner that he'd been the best shooter in all of Maycomb. I could'a rubbed it in them annoying kids from school faces because they brag 'bout they're daddies being so good, but mine is ten times better. Now I got somethin' to be proud of. Atticus ain't as bad as I thought he was after all, but I don't like that he's keepin stuff from us on a count of he could be hiding something else from us, all I want is the truth from him.
When I read to Mrs. Dubose and she had those fits right after the alarm clock went off I would kinda get scared, but relieved at the same time 'cause I could leave. I was so happy on my last day'a readin' to her 'cause then I didn't have to go to her house all the time. Scout and I would walk past her house after that, but she wouldn't be on her porch like usual. Then Atticus told us she had died and that she was real sick. When she died I wasn't really sad at all, it didn't really make a difference to me. After Atticus told us she died, he also told us that Mrs. Dubose was a morphine addict and that she'd been on it for a long time and she was sufferin'. Atticus also told me that she wasn't even payin attention to when I was readin to her and that it was just a distraction all she payed attention to was when her alarm clock would go off, so she could get her morphine. It kinda made me think that it was pointless for me to read to her at all if she wasn't even listenin'. The pieces fit in the puzzle now of Mrs. Dubose and I understand things more now.

tkm chapter 7-8 - scout
When I found out that it was Boo Radley who put the blanket on me outside of his house I was kind of frightened, happy and mad at the same time. I was frightened because at first i didn't know how it got there and now I'm mad because I didn't see what he looked like and Jem, Dill and I have been trying for as long as I can remember. I was happy because he gave me a blanket to keep me warm when I was really cold. I think Boo seems like a nice guy, and I also think that it was him who fixed Jem's pants that night when they got stuck on the fence. In my opinion, I think that Boo secretly comes out of his house every night or is just very sneaky so that no one sees him. He seems like a sort of shady guy but he really just means well.
One day we were walking past the tree with the knot hole in it and there were two carvings out of soap, one of a boy and one of a girl. They look like me and Jem, but we were curious who carved them. We tried to think of people who whittle around the area and we thought that it could be Mr. Avery, but I don't think that it's him. Jem and I wrote a letter to whoever was leaving things in the tree for us and we were going to put it in the hole, but it was covered with cement. We found out that Mr. Radley plugged the hole with cement, he said that the tree was dying, but Atticus said that it wasn't. I think that Mr. Radley didn't want us to get the little presents that were being left for us anymore.
